Tea was an exclusive luxury in the last part of the 17th century, and it was drunk from a similarly exclusive product: Chinese porcelain. No surprise, then, that potters in Delft chose to imitate this luxury ceramic. This teapot is a manifestation of the popular fascination for Asian porcelain in this period.
