Leidseplein
From the series Then and nowLeidseplein owes its name to Leiden – this square marked the start of the road to the Dutch city. An entrance gate once stood here, but it had already disappeared by the time this photograph was taken in 1890–1920 for the publishers Buurman-De Haas.
