Two toilet caskets André-Charles Boulle (1642–1732), Paris, c. 1685–1690, softwood and oak, veneered with tortoiseshell, brass and pewter, gilt-bronze

These toilet caskets were made by the famous cabinetmaker Boulle. He worked on the furnishings of the Palace of Versaille, among other things. His speciality was tortoiseshell, copper and tin marquetry.
