The Singel Bridge at the Paleisstraat in Amsterdam George Hendrik Breitner (1857–1923), oil on canvas, 1896; reworked 1898

Amsterdam in Winter. Breitner himself often took photographs in preparation for his paintings. The way the woman walks towards us and the cropping of the image make a distinctly photographic impression.
