Seated Cupid

From the series One hundred masterpieces
Seated Cupid Etienne Maurice Falconet (1716-1791), marble, 1757

Cupid looks at us mischievously while drawing an arrow from his quiver. This statue made Falconet, its sculptor, instantly famous. Madame de Pompadour, Louis XIV’s mistress, just had to have it.
