VERMEER EXHIBITION FINAL WEEKEND: EXTENDED NIGHT-TIME OPENINGS UNTIL 02:00
More than 2,600 new tickets available

For the final weekend of the exhibiton Vermeer, the Rijksmuseum is extending its opening hours – until 02:00 on the nights of Friday 2 and Saturday 3 June. This means more than 2,600 extra people will get a final chance to see the exhibition. Prospective visitors should apply for these new tickets via the Rijksmuseum website. The Vermeer exhibition runs until 18:00 on Sunday 4 June. -
VERMEER DIGITAL EXPERIENCE AND EXTENDED EXHIBITION OPENING HOURS

The Rijksmuseum will extend the exhibition Vermeer opening hours to 10PM on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings for the duration of the exhibition from 10 February to 4 June 2023. More than 100,000 tickets have already been sold with a month to go until the opening of the exhibition, the largest ever gathering of Vermeer paintings. Never before has the Rijksmuseum received such demand ahead of the opening of an exhibition.
Today also sees the launch of Rijksmuseum’s digital Vermeer experience Closer to Johannes Vermeer, available for free to all Vermeer lovers around the world. Stephen Fry (English language) and Joy Delima (Dutch language) will guide online visitors to explore the artist’s work and personal life. Utilising the latest available technology, for the first time visitors will be able to zoom in on the tiniest pigment particles in pin-sharp detail via ultra-high resolution photographs of some Vermeer paintings.

REVELATORY NEW INSIGHTS UNVEILED IN NEW VERMEER BIOGRAPHY

In the lead up to the opening of Rijksmuseum’s landmark Vermeer exhibition on 10 February 2023, a new biography published by Rijksmuseum reveals for the first time the full influence the Jesuit order of the Catholic church exerted on Johannes Vermeer who had been raised a Protestant. Johannes Vermeer. Faith, Light, and Reflection is written by Gregor J.M. Weber, Head of the Department of Fine Arts at the Rijksmuseum and one of the curators of the upcoming exhibition. -
RIJKSMUSEUM ANNOUNCES LIST OF VERMEER PAINTINGS IN LANDMARK EXHIBITION

The Rijksmuseum has announced the list of works by Johannes Vermeer which will go on show in its exhibition Vermeer from 10 February – 4 June 2023. With loans from all over the world, this promises to be the largest Vermeer exhibition ever staged. In the lead-up to the exhibition, a team of leading curators, conservators and scientists have worked together closely to conduct new research into Vermeer’s paintings using the latest available technology. The insights gained shed new light on Vermeer's life and work, the artistic choices and motivations for his compositions, as well as the creative process behind his paintings. -

RIJKSMUSEUM TO STAGE LARGEST VERMEER EXHIBITION EVER

In the spring of 2023, the Rijksmuseum, the national museum of the Netherlands, will dedicate a retrospective exhibition to the 17th-century master Johannes Vermeer for the first time in its history. With loans from all over the world, this promises to be the largest Vermeer exhibition ever. The Rijksmuseum itself has four masterpieces by Vermeer, including the world-famous Milkmaid and The Little Street.
