Maria Holtrop is Junior Curator of History
Curriculum vitae and work
Maria Holtrop studied History, European Studies and Journalism at the University of Amsterdam and Utrecht University. She then spent a few years working as an editor for a few different TV and radio programmes for the HUMAN broadcasting corporation. As a junior curator, she is working on a multimedia tour about colonialism, a conference on Provo (the Dutch counterculture movement in the mid-1960s), the Netherlands and the West, and a selection of other things she encounters along the way. She does not specialise in any one particular field, but is a true generalist.
She wholeheartedly recommends the website http://empireproject.eu/. Empire is a documentary project that explores how the past influences the present. The documentary makers visited ten different countries searching for the legacy of the Dutch East and West India Companies, making fascinating short films in the process.
