Wheelchairs

The Rijksmuseum is accessible to visitors with limited mobility and those accompanying them. Wheelchairs and rollators are available. Please ask one of our colleagues. Mobility scooters are not permitted inside the museum. People who are unable to independently navigate through the museum may bring one companion with them for free.

Rijksmuseum Café

The new Rijksmuseum Café is located in the Atrium, and offers diners a view of one of the central courtyards. Visitors can enjoy an array of sweet and savoury Dutch pastries, soups and sandwiches. Non-alcoholic beverages, Dutch gin and Heineken beer are also available. The Café is open 365 days a year from 9:00 to 18:00 for both museum and non-museum visitors. It is not possible to make reservations.

Rijksmuseum Shop

The Rijksmuseum Shop in the Atrium offers a wide array of products, many of which have been especially created for the Rijksmuseum by leading product designers. The lower level of the shop is dedicated to the book department. The Rijksmuseum shop is open 365 days a year from 9:00 to 18:00.

In addition, there is a museum shop on the Museumplein (open daily from 10:00 to 18:00) and the online webshop.

At Schiphol Amsterdam Airport, passengers with transit tickets can visit the shop at Rijksmuseum Schiphol, between piers E and G.

Library, Print Room, and reading room

The library is housed in the main Rijksmuseum building. Library daily opening hours 10:00 – 17:00, closed on Sundays and public holidays. The Rijksmuseum’s Research Library and Print Room have a shared reading room. For appointments and contact: studiezaal@rijksmuseum.nl

The Teekenschool

The Rijksmuseum’s multidisciplinary education centre is housed inside the historic drawing school known as the 'Teekenschool'. Its three modern studios host a wide spectrum of activities, organized under the motto: ‘learning to look by doing’. More information

Atelier Building

The Atelier Building is a centre of restoration and conservation, scholarly endeavour, research, and training. The Atelier Building is a setting in which the Rijksmuseum, the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE), and the University of Amsterdam (UvA) pool their expertise in the field of the restoration and conservation of art objects.
