Description

Portret ten voeten uit van de Poolse edelman Balthasar Bathory de Somlyo op 22-jarige leeftijd, de rechterhand in de zij, de linkerhand op het gevest van het zwaard aan zijn zij. Hij bezocht in 1583, toen hij met een Poolse delegatie in Nederland was, Goltzius in Haarlem om zich te laten portretteren. Rechtsbovenin de voorstelling een wapenschildje met een devies. Op de achtergrond strijdgewoel. Onder de voorstelling is ruimte leeg gelaten voor een onderschrift. Zie tevens het portret van Stanislas Sobocki, lid van de delegatie.
