pistolen: hout, ijzer, goud; kist: hout, leer, fluweel, h 9.2cm × w 45cm. More details

This pair of pistols in a wooden case probably belonged to Napoleon and was possibly used at the Battle of Waterloo. They come from one of Napoleon’s baggage wagons, captured after the battle. An imperial eagle is engraved on the pistols. On the barrels are the golden letters ‘ARGer [= Arquebusier] de L’Empereur’ (Gunmaker to the Emperor).
