Plate with the Amsterdam coat of arms

anonymous, c. 1730 - c. 1740

The quality of this plate is superb. The porcelain is extremely thin, and the back is covered entirely with a ruby-pink glaze (ruby back). The front is decorated with painstakingly painted floral motifs and a geometric pattern. A fairly small Amsterdam coat of arms is depicted in the rim at the top.

Description
Bord van porselein, beschilderd op het glazuur in blauw, rood, roze, groen, geel, zwart en goud. Op het plat een medaillon met bloeiende planten (prunus, pioen, aster); daaromheen servetwerk doorlopend op de wand en rand, afgewisseld met vijf gelobde cartouches met bloeiende planten; een cartouche met het wapen van Amsterdam; de buitenwand is bedekt met een roze glazuur. Oud label op de onderzijde met 'Scilhas Price coll/ Christies May 1906/ [...]. Wapenporselein in famille rose met een ruby back.
