Dish, anonymous, c. 1600 - c. 1625

porcelain with underglaze blue, h 9.7cm × d 50.5cm. More details

From the late 16th century porcelain kilns in Jingdezhen produced thinly potted kraak dishes decorated with fluid underglaze painting in blue. A characteristic feature of this ware is the division of the border into alternating narrow and wide panels. It was a true export product for the porcelain’s standardised sizes and relatively light weight made it easy to transport.
