The Rijksmuseum has launched a completely revamped smartphone app. A simple press of a button now gives users access to tours, wayfinding, the e-ticket shop and the Rijksmuseum collection.
Brand new in the Rijksmuseum app: the Rembrandt multimedia tour. Discover more about the life and genius of Rembrandt van Rijn. At the Rijksmuseum you can see not only the largest but also the most representative collection of works spanning his entire career. Of course you can also see the fascinating Night Watch, Rembrandt’s most famous painting.
The Rijksmuseum in your pocket
Discover the Rijksmuseum in 14 tours, an advanced navigation system, the e-ticket shop and Rijksstudio with a simple press of a button. Now, the Rijksmuseum is even more accessible to everybody, whether it’s before, during or after a visit to the museum.
Tours and wayfinding
One new component in the free Tours section is the indoor automatic wayfinding feature. Using an interactive map with route directions, the app guides you to the starting point of a chosen area or tour. During your tour the app will take you from room to room.
Containing a total of 14 different tours, the app is perfect for everyone! Each item has several layers that allows you to discover unique and surprising details about the collection.
The app is available in Dutch, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Mandarin. If you have already installed the app on your device, you can update de app for free in the App Store or Google Play. Turn on your locations services and Bluetooth to make the best use of the app.
Rijksstudio and E-tickets
Enjoying the collection is now even easier and more exciting with Rijksstudio in the new app. You can scroll and swipe through the artworks, zoom in on the smallest details and easily save the images in your own Rijksstudio sets. The app now also allows you to easily purchase tickets, save them and scan them at the ticket checkpoint.
Tip: bring your headphones or purchase a headset at the museum.
At the museum, devices containing the tours are for rent at the multimedia desk for €5 per device.
