The Rijksmuseum widget is now available at the iPhone App Store. This free iPhone application enables users to admire a different painting from the Rijksmuseum’s collection every day. One of the museum’s 1,000 masterpieces is displayed whenever you press the icon on the screen. You can then rotate or zoom in on the image. The application also offers links to the Rijksmuseum’s website for more information. Thanks to the widget and the iPhone, the public can now enjoy the Rijksmuseum’s collection anywhere and at any time.
Click here of search for "Rijkswidget" or "Rijksmuseum" in the Appstore and you will find the Rijkswidget App. Enjoy!

Have been a fan of the rijksmuseum widget, since it's first introduction. It has lead me many times to enjoy highlights and detailed background information on an important art collection. This year, special emphasis should be placed on those works that help illustrate the Dutch colonial experience in America, which is currently celebrating its 400th in New York. I have visited the Rijksmuseum and look forward to returning whenever I get back to Amsterdam. Best wishes to an innovative directorial staff that has successfully demonstrated how to reach-out to a global audience and enhance not only art appreciation but historical and cultural understanding. A useless way to use new technology, but none seems to care... A pure widget : "an often small electronic device with a/no practical use but often thought of as a novelty". |

What a wonderful way to reach out and share something wonderful with the world. A brilliant, human use of technology. We couldn't resist giving RijksGadget a prominent place on our Museums & Galleries Page at www.luxurytraveler.com/ |

I posted the widget on our web site and it worked beautifully for a few days. Now, the widget on your page here at the Rijksmuseum and on our web site does not have the ability to turn over. We can't read the info on the back. The Widget has become static. Can you tell me what is happening? |
