Rijksmuseum Amsterdam Schiphol is a joint and unique initiative between Rijksmuseum Amsterdam and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The Rijksmuseum is the first museum in the world to have an annexe in an airport and Schiphol is the first airport to have a museum in its terminal. The museum was officially opened on 9 December 2002 by His Royal Highness the Prince of Orange.
Paintings by the famous Brueghel brothers are featured in the new exhibition at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport from 28 October to 22 February 2010. Nine works by Pieter Brueghel the Younger and Jan Brueghel, sons of the celebrated 16th-century Flemish painter Pieter Brueghel the Elder, are presented. The exhibition examines how they both took advantage in different ways of the popularity that their father’s work enjoyed.
In the exclusive museumshop you will find high-quality reproducations of paintings of Vermeer and Rembrandt, Delft Blue vases, jewellery, posters, postcards and more beautiful souvenirs.
The Rijksmuseum Amsterdam Schiphol is located on Holland Boulevard, in the area behind passport control between the E and F Pier. The museum is open every day from 7:00 until 20:00 and admission is free.
ING is the exclusive sponsor of Rijksmuseum Amsterdam Schiphol.
