The parasol’s handle bears the inscription ‘Madame la Baronne G.A.G.P. Van Der Capellen Née Baroness De Tuyll à Bruxelles.’ She was married to Godert van der Capellen, governor-general of the Dutch East Indies from 1816 to 1826. On the handle, besides the inscription, there is a landscape with small figures. The carving is of a very high quality.

Parasol van zijde met een stok van ivoor. De gebogen handgreep eindigt in een monsterkop. Het onderste deel van de stok is gesneden met figuren in een landschap en een banderol met 'Mme la Boronne G.A.G.P. Van Der Capellen N’ee Baronne De Tuyll à Bruxelles'.
