Walnut, iron, gilt bronze, inlaid bone and mother of pearl: the most expensive materials were used to decorate this meticulously crafted matchlock musket. The original owner probably never fired a single shot with this valuable weapon. Militiamen would commission muskets like this purely for show at festive celebrations, ceremonies and parades.
