General terms and conditions group visits

General terms and conditions group visits Rijksmuseum Amsterdam

1. These general terms and conditions are applicable to all agreements between the Rijksmuseum and any company or institution (hereinafter referred to as the 'organiser') that organises group visits to the Rijksmuseum as part of the services that it offers to third parties. All agreements are entered into between the organiser and the foundation Stichting Het Rijksmuseum of Amsterdam (hereinafter referred to as 'the Rijksmuseum'), with its registered address at Hobbemastraat 20, 1071 ZC Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and which is registered at the Amsterdam Chamber of Commerce under file number: 41215141 0001, with the Dutch VAT identification number: NL 8090 17 362 B01. Visitors to this website must accept the applicability of these terms and conditions and of other rights and duties stated on www.rijksmuseum.nl. Articles 6, 7 and 11 only apply to reservations for group visits via www.rijksmuseum.nl.

2. For any questions regarding group visits to the Rijksmuseum, please fill out the form at the bottom of this page. Alternatively, written inquiries may be sent to the Rijksmuseum at the aforementioned address, clearly stating your name, address, telephone number and if possible e-mail address.

3. A 'group' is understood to mean 15 or more people wishing to enter the Rijksmuseum at the same time. The Rijksmuseum reserves the right to refuse groups access to the museum. It is the responsibility of the organiser to ensure that the members of the group comply with the terms and conditions applicable to visitors.

4. The organiser can cancel a booked visit at no charge at the latest five days before the visit is due to take place. Cancellations and small adjustments to group numbers must be reported by filling out the form at the bottom of this page.

5. Upon a group's arrival at the Rijksmuseum, one guide shall report to the ticket counter to register the group. The rest of the group must wait outside until approval has been given. If the organiser has a voucher agreement as referred to in Article 6, the guide can exchange the voucher for tickets at the counter inside the museum. A guide accompanying a registered group without a voucher agreement can also go to the counter to pay for the reserved tickets in cash, or by debit or credit card.

6. A reservation grants you admission to the museum, but does not exempt you from buying a ticket. The tickets must be purchased at the ticket counter as normal. Organisers that have a voucher agreement with the Rijkmuseum shall pay in the manner stipulated in the voucher agreement.

7. You are eligible for a voucher agreement if you bring more than 250 people to the museum per calendar year. If this is the case, the terms and conditions of the voucher agreement apply in addition to these general terms and conditions.

8. Booking a group visit in advance is not a guarantee that there will be no waiting time at the ticket counter or the entrance. Booking a group visit does mean that the group can use the fast lane.

9. The organiser is free to have its own guide show the group round the museum, provided the size of the group does not exceed 20 people per guide.

10. Organisers that have a voucher agreement with the Rijksmuseum as referred to in Article 6 shall be entitled to free admission for two guides for every 15 visitors. All other groups are required to purchase tickets for the guides. If the group consists of 13 or fewer persons, guides shall be considered part of the group.

11. The agreement to be concluded between the organiser and the Rijksmuseum is governed by Dutch law. Any disputes relating to or arising from the agreement or any offers made by the Rijksmuseum will only be submitted to the competent court in the district of Amsterdam.

12. The Rijksmuseum and all its affiliated enterprises consider it of great importance that the data of website visitors be handled with due care. Consequently, the Rijksmuseum website has been designed with a view to protecting your privacy to the greatest degree possible.

13. By checking the box 'I would like to be kept informed about Rijksmuseum activities', you grant the Rijksmuseum and/or an affiliated enterprise permission to inform you from time to time with regard to its activities and products offered by the Rijksmuseum. However, you will always have the option to indicate that you do not wish to be sent any further information.

Terms and conditions for reserving audio tours

14. The hiring out and issuing of audio tours has been outsourced to Antenna Audio, which is located in Amsterdam. Therefore, organisers that purchase an audio tour shall have a contractual relationship with Antenna Audio, irrespective of any intervention by the Rijksmuseum. Organisers holding a voucher agreement with the Rijksmuseum will be billed for the costs of audio tours via the periodic statement issued to them by the Rijksmuseum. The audio desk is located in the foyer of the Rijksmuseum.

15. If a group wishes to cancel its entire reservation, it must do so via filling out the form at the bottom of this page at least five working days before the reservation date, not including the day of the scheduled visit. If a reservation is cancelled fewer than five working days in advance of the scheduled visit, Antenna Audio reserves the right to charge the organiser 50% of the provisional total costs.

16. The organiser must report last minute changes in the size of the group that exceed 10% in a timely fashion on working days from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to our office on +31 (0)20 6736824 and at the weekends directly to our counter from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on +31 (0)20 6747181. In the event of changes to the group's size exceeding 20%, of which Antenna Audio is not made aware, the organiser will be charged for the number of visitors that was last reported.

17. Reserved audio tours will be held for no more than 15 minutes after the designated time of arrival. In the unlikely event that the group will arrive later, the guide can call the audio counter directly on +31 (0)20 6747181.

18. Payments shall be made at the audio desk cashpoint in cash or by debit/credit card.

19. If an organiser has a voucher agreement as referred to in Article 6, the guide may note the final number of audio tours purchased on the voucher and turn it in at the audio desk. If the group's size has decreased by more than 20% and this has not been reported to Antenna Audio at least five days before the scheduled visit, the organiser will be charged for the number of visitors that was last reported.

Terms and conditions for reserving guided tours

20. The guided tour can be cancelled free of charge up to ten days before the date of the booked tour. If cancelled after that time, the tour will have to be paid in full.

21. The Rijksmuseum will endeavour to provide enough tour guides, but cannot guarantee that each organiser's request for one can be granted. In the unlikely event that it is not possible to provide the required number of tour guides, the organiser will be contacted at least one week in advance. Suitable alternatives will then be explored in mutual consultation.

22. In the event that the assigned tour guide is unable to give the tour, the Rijksmuseum will endeavour to find a replacement. You will be informed of this as promptly as possible.

23. A tour guide may accompany no more than 15 persons plus two guides.

24. Payment shall be made prior to the guided tour at the Information desk in cash or by debit/credit card.

25. Exception: in the event that the requester/organiser of the guided tour has a voucher agreement as referred to in Article 6, payment may be made via periodic payment, provided this is indicated in advance.

26. If you have any questions about tour guides or want to change or cancel tour reservations, please contact the reservations department on +31 (0)20 6747470 or fill out the form below.
